The day starts with a drive south from Muscat toward Quriyat, crossing the plateau before dropping into Wadi Shab. Once there, you walk through the canyon on a route that crosses green terraced gardens and rocky ground—sturdy shoes matter here, since the wadi floor is strewn with rocks and pebbles. The walk takes roughly 40 minutes and ends at a series of streams and pools where the water is clear enough to see through. From there, you swim into a narrow keyhole opening that leads through a cave to a waterfall inside; the cave itself is the landmark moment of the hike, a sheltered chamber where the water meets the rock.

After Wadi Shab, the tour moves to Bimmah Sinkhole, a crater depression near the coast with a small lake at its bottom—the kind of place that stops you mid-step because the scale is unexpected.
