Soar above the Himalayas, then ride the rapids below

Paragliding and river rafting in Pokhara pairs two adventure sports in a single day: a 30-minute paraglide over Phewa Lake and the Annapurna range in the morning, then whitewater rafting on the Seti River in the afternoon. Hotel pickup and drop-off, professional English-speaking guides, all safety gear, and a light lunch are included. You'll return by 5 pm.

The experience

The day starts at 9:30 am with pickup from your hotel in Pokhara, then a drive to Sarangkot, the paragliding launch point. After a briefing with your pilot, you'll fly for 30 minutes over Phewa Lake and the Annapurna range: the aerial view shifts what you thought you knew about the valley below. You land near the lake around noon, get driven back to freshen up, and have an hour to rest before the afternoon's second activity begins.

By early afternoon, a vehicle picks you up again and takes you to the Upper Seti River. After a safety briefing and gear check, you'll raft through the river's rapids, moving through the landscape at water level instead of from above. The current carries you past cliffs and forest. The whitewater demands focus but stays within reach of all fitness levels. By 5 pm you're back at your hotel, dry clothes on, the day complete.

Professional guides trained in swift water rescue and wilderness first aid manage both activities. Paragliding and rafting photos and video are captured during the day. You get a light lunch (sandwich) and mineral water, plus all safety equipment: helmet, jacket, and the kayakers who watch the raft. The logistics (transport between Sarangkot and the river, timing the two sports into one afternoon, the permits) are handled so you only have to show up and move.

Top questions

How long does the paragliding flight actually last?

The paragliding portion is 30 minutes in the air with an experienced pilot, starting from Sarangkot. The full morning activity, including the drive there, briefing, and return to your hotel, takes about three hours total.

Is the river rafting difficult, or can beginners do it?

The Seti River rafting is suitable for all physical fitness levels. The rapids provide excitement but the activity is designed to be accessible. Your professional guides and safety kayakers stay with the group throughout.

What's included in the light lunch?

Lunch is a sandwich, served after the rafting portion of the day. Mineral water is also provided. If you have dietary needs, confirm them with the operator when you book.

Do I need any experience with paragliding or rafting before I book?

No experience is required for either activity. You'll receive a full briefing before paragliding and a safety briefing before rafting. Professional guides handle the instruction and lead both sports. The activity is not recommended for pregnant travelers.

What time does the full day end?

You'll be dropped back at your hotel around 5 pm, after changing into dry clothes and having a snack at the rafting finish point.
