Upper Marshyangdi Rafting: 2-day whitewater in Nepal
Two days of nonstop whitewater on one of the Himalaya's most demanding rivers
A two-day whitewater rafting trip on Nepal's Upper Marshyangdi River near Pokhara with a live English-speaking guide, private transportation, camping, and all meals included. The river runs continuous Class III–IV rapids that require high physical fitness and full commitment from every paddler; this is not a scenic float. Minimum age is 14; pickup is included.
The Experience
The Upper Marshyangdi is not a river for learning to paddle. You're on the water for two full days running nonstop rapids that demand 100% focus from both the team and the guide—the kind of stretch where a mistake costs you the boat. The river cuts through the Himalaya with some of the most energizing whitewater in the region, and the mountains frame every rapid. This is the trip for someone who wants serious paddling, not a gentle introduction.
You start with private pickup and transportation to the put-in, then spend two days in the raft navigating continuous whitewater. The guide leads you through each rapid and handles the technical decisions; you paddle hard and stay alert. Nights you camp on the riverbank, cook barbecue (including fresh fish if you catch any), and sit by the campfire. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, coffee and tea are all provided, so you eat and rest between sessions on the water. The second day follows the same rhythm—more rapids, more paddling, then the take-out and the drive back.
This trip is built for paddlers with a high level of physical fitness who are ready for a challenging river. The continuous nature of the rapids means there is no break to recover; you are paddling or preparing to paddle for the full two days. It is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or anyone with poor cardiovascular health. If you have done serious whitewater before and want a genuine test, this is the one.
