The experience

The adventure begins at Sarangkot, the famous viewpoint above Pokhara where the paraglide launches happen. A safety briefing walks you through what to expect before you and your pilot take to the air. Once airborne, you're strapped in alongside someone who has done this hundreds of times. Your job is to stay still and look around. The Annapurna range fills the horizon, Mount Fishtail rises in the middle distance, and Phewa Lake spreads below in a way you can't see from the ground. Depending on wind and thermals, you'll drift over villages, monasteries, temples and the thick green of the surrounding jungle.

Your pilot captures photos and video throughout the flight so you have proof of what you saw and how small everything looked from up there. The whole experience (briefing, flight and landing) takes about three hours. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included if you're staying in the Lakeside area of Pokhara. If you're elsewhere, local transport options exist nearby, though that leg is on you.
