The Experience
The trek starts with two days in Kathmandu: arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport with hotel transfer, then a half-day sightseeing tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites—Swayambhunath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa—paired with trek preparation and gear fitting. A professional guide explains the history and significance of each site. The next day, a tourist bus carries you six to seven hours from Kathmandu to Pokhara, passing through the Trishuli River valley with stops for meals and rest.
From Pokhara, you drive to Ulleri and trek the same day to Ghorepani at 2,860 meters, ascending through lush rhododendron forests. Ghorepani sits directly facing the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan ranges. The following morning, you climb to Poon Hill at 3,210 meters in darkness to watch the sunrise turn the snowcapped peaks from grey to pink to white, then descend for breakfast and trek onward to Tadapani at 2,660 meters, passing natural waterfalls and deep forest. Tadapani is equally known for mountain views and sunrise.
The final trekking day is shorter: three hours from Tadapani to Ghandruk village through lush forest, where you explore the settlement, visit the Gurung people's museum to learn about their culture, and have lunch. You then drive back to Pokhara by local transport (or hire a private jeep if preferred), stay overnight at a three-star hotel, and the next morning drive seven hours back to Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. The tour ends with a special cultural dinner with the team before transfer to the airport for your international flight.
