The experience

Your guide meets you at the Tangier medina port and drives you through the ville nouvelle (new town) and residential areas to Cape Spartel, the northernmost point of Africa. Here the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea converge, and you have the option to stop for a camel ride on the beach or visit Hercules Cave before heading back inland.

The walking portion takes place in the old medina, where you move through the Grand Socco square, the Jewish cemetery (Beit Hahayim), the American Legation (an American landmark dating to 1823), and the Jewish quarter itself. Moshe Nahon synagogue, one of Morocco's most beautiful, anchors this section of the route. The Kasbah and markets round out the stops before you return to the port.

The tour runs four to five hours total and is private. Just you, your guide Abdel, and the driver in an air-conditioned vehicle. Coffee and tea are provided during the day. The guide speaks English and Spanish and knows Moroccan history and culture in depth. Children from age one are welcome, and the tour is wheelchair accessible throughout.
