Moroccan Cooking Class in Marrakech: Market to Table
You'll cook five different Moroccan dishes, not just watch someone else make them.
A 4-hour cooking class in Marrakech where you learn to prepare Moroccan dishes from a local chef in a well-equipped kitchen. The morning session includes a market visit to select fresh ingredients; both morning and evening sessions end with tasting what you've cooked. Recipes arrive as a PDF afterward, and lunch or dinner is included depending on your time slot.
The Experience
You spend 4 hours in the kitchen learning from a local chef who walks you through the fundamentals: how to peel, chop and layer spices the way Moroccan cooks do. The morning class at 10:30 am starts with a trip to a nearby local market to pick out the freshest vegetables and spices yourself—that's the only session that includes the market stop. The evening class runs at 5:30 pm and goes straight into the kitchen. Either way, you're not standing and watching; you're handling the knife, tasting as you go, and building muscle memory for techniques you'll use at home.
The menu spans the full arc of a Moroccan meal: you'll make zaalouk (a warm aubergine salad), taktouka (a hot pepper salad), a cold tomato salad, a tajine (your choice of vegetarian, chicken or kefta), and mehncha for dessert. The spices—Ras El Hanout, paprika, cumin and others—get explained as you use them, and the chef talks through the history and culture behind each dish as you work. By the end of the class, you taste everything you've made in a salon setting, and you leave with all the recipes in PDF form so you can recreate them at home.
Lunch is included if you take the morning session; dinner comes with the evening one. Coffee and tea are available throughout. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, so there's room to move and proper tools for the work.
