Agafay Desert camel ride and dinner with fireshow
Ride camels at sunset, then eat tagine under the stars with a fire show
A camel ride and three-course dinner in the Agafay Desert near Marrakech, with round-trip hotel pickup, a traditional Berber camp experience, and an evening fire show with live music. The activity runs about five hours from pickup to return. You choose to dine under the open sky or in a protective tent, and a stop at a women's argan oil cooperative is included on the drive out.
The Experience
The day starts with pickup from your Marrakech hotel or riad, followed by a 40-minute drive south to the Agafay Desert. Along the way, you'll stop at a women's argan oil cooperative to see how the oil is made using traditional methods — a working look at something that matters to the region. Once you reach the desert, a 20-minute camel ride takes you through the rocky dunes at a relaxed pace, the kind of terrain that looks flat from a distance but moves under you in a way that makes the landscape real.
At the Berber camp, the evening unfolds around food and fire. A three-course dinner arrives — Moroccan soup with home bread, then a choice of vegetable or chicken tagine with couscous, finished with hot tea. You can eat under the open desert sky or inside a tent if the night turns cold. As darkness settles, a fire show begins, followed by live Berber music and dancing that fills the camp. The return drive to Marrakech takes about an hour, arriving back late enough that the day feels complete.
The guide speaks English, French, or Arabic depending on your group. Bottled water is provided throughout. If you have back problems or are pregnant, the camel ride can be skipped without losing the rest of the experience — the dinner, the fire show, and the camp itself remain. Infants and small children can come along; specialized seats are available if needed.

How long does the whole experience take from pickup to return?
The activity runs about five hours total, including the 40-minute drive out, the camel ride, dinner, the fire show and live music, and the one-hour drive back to Marrakech.
What exactly is served for dinner at the Berber camp?
Dinner is a three-course meal: Moroccan soup with home bread, a tagine (vegetable or chicken) served with couscous, and hot tea to finish.
Can I bring young children or babies on this experience?
Yes. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and specialized infant seats are available if needed. The camel ride is optional, so children can skip it and still enjoy the dinner and fire show.
What happens at the argan oil cooperative stop on the way?
You'll visit a women's cooperative to learn how argan oil is made using traditional production methods — a short educational stop that shows you a craft central to the region.
Do I have to ride the camel, or can I skip that part?
The camel ride is part of the experience, but it's not mandatory. If you have back problems, are pregnant, or prefer not to ride, you can skip the camel activity and still attend the dinner, fire show, and all other parts of the evening.
Can I choose where to eat — outside or in a tent?
Yes. You can dine under the stars in the open desert or inside a protective tent, depending on your preference and the weather that evening.
