  • Explore vibrant medina and photo spots
  • Hike to viewpoint over city
  • Walk to Ras el-Maa Waterfall

The experience

The tour starts in the medina itself, where your guide walks you through the narrow blue-painted streets and explains why the walls are painted this color and what the architecture tells about Moroccan life. You'll pass artisan shops, see traditional doors and windows, and stop at photogenic corners, but the route also takes you into the alleys most visitors skip, the ones where you see how people actually move through the city. Place Outa el Hammam comes early, giving you the high vantage point and the history of the layout before you descend into the neighborhoods.

The Kasbah Museum sits in the heart of the medina and holds the fortress's gardens, walls and towers. Your guide explains the history of Chefchaouen and the Rif region, and shares stories about traditional Moroccan life that connect the building to the city around it. From there, the walk continues through more of the blue streets before heading to a viewpoint over the city: a short walk or light hike that lets you see the medina from above and the landscape beyond. The final stop is Ras el-Maa Waterfall, a short walk outside the medina where locals gather for water. You'll see how the waterfall functions in the community and get a break from the streets.

Refreshments (tea, coffee or water) are available at local cafés along the route, and you can order food and drinks to pay as you go. Hotel pickup is included. The tour works for all fitness levels and is wheelchair accessible throughout, with prams and strollers welcome for infants and small children.
