The Experience

The day started with me realizing I’d left my sunglasses in the car — not ideal when you’re about to stare at two oceans meeting. Afterward, we wandered through Tangier Kasbah — narrow streets painted blue and white, laundry flapping overhead, an old man selling mint tea from a battered cart. He poured it high so it frothed; somehow it tasted better with all that sea air.

The medina was chaos in the best way: shouts from vendors selling olives and leather slippers, kids weaving between us with baskets balanced on their heads. We ducked into Moshe Nahon Synagogue for a moment of quiet — stained glass catching sunlight on tiled floors — then St. Andrew’s Church where birds fluttered in through open windows. By the time we reached the American Legation Museum my legs were tired but my head was full of stories about Tangier’s mix of cultures (and yes, there’s WiFi on board if you need to check your map or message home). We ended near Place 9 Avril; Youssef let us choose our drop-off spot which felt oddly personal after such a full day.
