The experience

You start from your hotel or the cruise port and head north toward Cape Spartel, where the Mediterranean and Atlantic meet. The lighthouse sits on the edge of that convergence, and the views stretch across the water toward Spain. From there you walk into the Caves of Hercules, an archaeological complex carved into the cape. The sea entrance opens onto a natural stone formation that looks like the map of Africa when you stand in the water and look back toward the opening. A shape the Phoenicians may have cut deliberately, though nobody knows for certain. You have time to explore both the sea-facing chamber and the inland passages before heading back out.

The camel ride happens on one of Tangier's beaches near the caves, where you can take photos and feel the shift from city to coast.
