The experience

Day one moves south from Agadir through the Berber villages and silver-working town of Tiznit, then stops for lunch at Legzira Beach: a stretch of Atlantic coast known for its red rock cliffs and natural stone arch. After eating, the 4x4 heads inland toward the dunes of El Borj, where you watch the sunset over the desert and sleep in a nomadic tent camp that night, with breakfast and dinner provided.

Day two begins with an optional camel ride through the surrounding dunes, followed by a visit to prehistoric rock engravings carved into the landscape. The route then moves to Tighmert oasis, where a local guide shows you the kasbah (a historic structure where desert caravans once stopped), and serves tea in a converted nomad tent. The drive back to Agadir takes the afternoon, with arrival around 6 p.m.

The tour includes a guide who speaks English, French or German; hotel pickup from Agadir is arranged; and children from age two are welcome. Travelers should have at least moderate fitness for the terrain and the physical demands of the route.
