Agadir Jeep Safari: Desert, Oasis & Berber Village Lunch
Drive the Atlantic dunes and eat lunch where the Berbers live
An 8-hour jeep safari from Agadir that takes you south through uncrowded beaches, a natural wildlife refuge along the Oued Massa, and into a Berber village for a traditional lunch cooked by residents, then continues to Tiznit to see the ramparts and learn about Morocco's silver-working heritage. Hotel pickup, a professional guide in your choice of languages, and all meals are included.
The Experience
The day starts with a 4x4 pickup from your hotel and heads south toward wild Atlantic beaches and a sandbank at the coast's edge. You'll drive through a real natural park where the landscape is still untamed—home to Ibis bats, other birds, and the flora that survives in this refuge. A sandy track runs along the Oued Massa riverbed until you reach the beach at Sidi R'bat, where you get time to photograph the uncrowded stretch of sand and water. The route also passes the Dam Youssef bin Tachfine, where one arm of the Oued Massa forms an artificial lake nearly 7 kilometers long.
After the coastal section, you drive inland to a Berber village where the real appointment happens: a traditional lunch cooked by the inhabitants themselves. You'll eat couscous and tajine with fruit, sitting with people who live there, not in a restaurant built for tourists. The meal comes with your choice of vegetarian or non-vegetarian dishes. This is where the tour shifts from driving to sitting, and where the cultural piece of the day takes shape.
From the village, the route continues to Tiznit, a city famous across Morocco for its silver jewelry-making craft. You'll visit the ramparts and learn about the city's history and how it became a center for metalwork. The guide—a professional licensed driver who speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and other languages—handles the narration throughout, so the cultural and historical details come as you move. The whole day wraps back at your hotel.

What is the Oued Massa and why does the safari follow it?
The Oued Massa is a river valley that runs to the Atlantic coast south of Agadir, and it's home to a natural wildlife refuge where Ibis bats and other birds still live in an untamed landscape. The sandy track along it leads to the beach at Sidi R'bat, one of the uncrowded stretches of coast the tour visits.
Who prepares the lunch and where do we eat it?
The lunch is cooked by inhabitants of a Berber village you visit during the tour, and you eat it there with them rather than at a restaurant. The meal includes couscous, tajine and fruit, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available.
How long is the whole tour and what time does it start?
The tour runs 8 hours total. Hotel pickup is included, so the driver collects you from your accommodation and returns you there at the end; the exact start time depends on which option you choose at checkout.
What makes Tiznit worth visiting on this route?
Tiznit became famous across Morocco for the manufacture of silver jewelry, and the tour includes a visit to the city's ramparts so you can see the craft heritage and learn about the city's history and Morocco's culture.
Can children go on this jeep safari?
Children are welcome from age 4 onward. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and infants can sit on an adult's lap; specialized infant seats are also available.
Which option should I pick if I want to see the sunset?
The "Sahara Sunset Time & Diner" option times the tour so you experience the desert light at dusk and includes dinner instead of the midday lunch; the other options run the standard daytime route with lunch in the Berber village.
