The experience
The route starts in Agadir and heads south along the coast, stopping after an hour and a half for coffee with views of the Atlantic. Legzira Beach sits 180 kilometers down the coast in the Sidi Ifni region, famous for its astronomical rock arches and red earth cliffs shaped by the ocean: one of Morocco's most photographed stretches of sand. The beach draws hikers and surfers, but the tour keeps moving inland toward the desert.
From Legzira, the drive continues to Guelmim, a city 200 kilometers south of Agadir and known as the gateway to the Sahara. Guelmim was once a caravan hub on the route to Timbuktu and still hosts Morocco's largest camel market on Saturday mornings. After a stop in the city and a tea break, the journey turns toward El Borj village, a modest settlement founded by nomads deep in the desert. The final stretch to the camp takes 45 minutes on a rough road through sand dunes. At the camp, you'll have mint tea and Moroccan pastries, watch the sunset over the golden dunes, then sit down to dinner under the stars while a Sahraoui music group performs around a campfire. You sleep in a nomad tent to experience how the locals live in the desert.
The return journey the next morning goes back through the oasis, then takes an alternate route through the Anti-Atlas Mountains for different scenery. A stop in Tiznit, founded in 1882 and still ringed by its original walls, lets you walk the old medina and browse the silver jewelry souks the town is known for. The drive back to Agadir completes the loop.

Is this one for you?The 2-day format lets you reach the sand dunes and spend a full night under stars, which a 1-day tour cannot offer. The return route through the Anti-Atlas Mountains adds scenery variety that a direct route back would skip. Book this if you want the overnight desert experience rather than a same-day round trip.
