Olive oil farm to fork experience & walking tour Kotor
Taste centuries-old olive oil straight from the press, then eat what the farm grows
This five-hour activity combines a guided walk through Kotor's old town with a visit to Lustica farm, where you learn olive oil production from a family that has worked the same land for 200 years. You'll tour nearly 1,000 olive trees, most older than three centuries, see both the 150-year-old mill and the modern anaerobic press, taste the oil they make, and eat a farm-to-table meal of homemade cheese, cured meats, vegetables and bread. A guide in English, Spanish, Italian or French leads the experience, and pickup from your hotel is included.

The experience
If you have a free afternoon in Kotor, this activity fills it with two things most visitors miss: the working life of the region's olive oil tradition and the taste of oil pressed the old way. The walk through Kotor's narrow streets and waterfront takes the first part of the day. Then you ride out to Lustica farm, positioned on a lookout point where you can see the whole bay. The farm sits among nearly 1,000 olive trees, most of them older than 300 years, and the family who owns it has been growing and pressing oil there for two centuries.
At the farm you meet the family and tour the estate. You'll see the 150-year-old mill that still works (one of the few on the peninsula), and watch how they use it to press oil the traditional way. Then you see the modern anaerobic press and hear how that technology changed what they can do. An olive oil tasting comes next, where you learn to spot quality and taste the difference between oils. The family also grows vegetables and keeps animals, so the food on the table (smoked ham, bacon, sausages, homemade cheese, salad, apple pie, bread) comes from what surrounds you. A welcome drink of homemade cherry or grape brandy starts the meal, and a glass of red or white wine is included.
The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or French, and pickup from your hotel is part of the booking. Bring nothing except yourself. The farm provides everything you taste and eat.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
What is the Lustica farm actually like when you arrive?
Lustica farm sits on a lookout point on the peninsula with views across Kotor Bay. Nearly 1,000 olive trees grow there, most of them over 300 years old, and the family has owned and worked the land for 200 years. The 150-year-old mill is still in use, making it one of the few working traditional presses left on the peninsula.
How does the olive oil tasting work?
After you see how the oil is pressed (both the old way and the modern way), the family guides you through a tasting where you learn to taste the differences between oils and understand what makes one quality higher than another. It is not a formal class but a conversation with people who have been making oil their whole lives.
Is the farm food a full meal or just samples?
It is a farm-to-table meal. You eat smoked ham, bacon, sausages, homemade cheese, salad, homemade bread and apple pie, all made by the family. A welcome drink of homemade brandy starts the experience, and a glass of wine is included. Coffee, water and homemade juice are also available.
Does the walking tour of Kotor happen before or after the farm visit?
The walking tour of Kotor's old town happens first, in the morning part of the day. Then you ride out to Lustica farm for the afternoon, where you spend the rest of the five hours learning about olive oil and eating.
