The experience

You drive for 30 minutes along the coast road with the bay on your right and the jungle on your left, passing the Los Arcos protected natural reserve: an icon for Vallarta residents. The route then climbs through Mismaloya village and up the mountain to Edén, an ecotourism park built on the filming location of the 1987 movie Predator. The landscape shifts from coastal views to dense forest and waterfalls as you gain elevation.

At Edén you can swim in the clear water to cool off before the final leg. The day ends at a small tequila estate in the mountains where you taste different tequilas while someone explains how they're made. The whole experience runs between 3 and 4 hours, and all safety gear is provided. You'll need a valid driver's license and a swimsuit. The maximum weight is 450 pounds.

Children from age 4 are welcome to ride. The guide speaks English and Spanish, so language is not a barrier. Bring extra cash if you want to purchase anything beyond the tasting, and wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty. The roads are unpaved and the terrain is rough enough to justify the adrenaline.
