The experience

Three hours covers the whole arc: your guide meets you and takes you in a 4x4 truck to one of several sandboarding spots around Los Cabos, each with slopes suited to different skill levels. You start on smaller dunes to get the feel of the board and the sand, and once you're steady, the guide encourages you to tackle the largest slopes. The adrenaline builds as you pick up speed down the face of the dune, and the ocean sits in front of you the whole time: close enough that you can see the beach and even take a swim if you want to break up the riding.

The operator provides sandboarding equipment, a 4x4 truck for transport between slopes, and tent chairs to rest in between runs. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or Czech and teaches you everything you need to know before you drop in. Children from age 6 are welcome, and the activity suits all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy. You can book a daytime session, a dusk run, a ride under the full moon, or a starlit night adventure: each one changes the light and the feel of the dunes.

Wake sandboarding is also an option if you want to add water to the mix. The 4x4 trucks and all gear stay with you for the full three hours, so there's no waiting around for equipment or transport between runs.
