Step-by-step itinerary
Half-day surf lesson and adventure
- Briefing on ocean conditions and safety
- Learn paddling, push up, and pop up techniques
- Practice riding white water in shallow areas
- Ride small waves when ready
- Take breaks as needed
The experience
You start with a briefing on ocean conditions and the fundamentals: how to paddle, how to push up and pop up on the board, and how to move and turn once you're riding. All lessons begin in shallow water where you'll practice on white water until you feel ready to try small waves. The instructors (all CPR and lifeguard certified) work with surfers of every level, from kids taking their first lesson to adults with some experience who want to improve. You take breaks whenever you need them. There's no rush to progress faster than feels right.
The private transport gets you away from the crowded breaks near town and into the spots locals actually use. In summer, that's the East Cape. In winter, the Todos Santos area. Both are remote enough that you're not fighting lineups or dodging other surfers. You'll have shade set up on the beach, chairs to rest between sessions, an ice chest, and refreshments (coffee or tea, fruit, healthy snacks and fresh water), so you can stay comfortable and hydrated through the morning or afternoon.
Professional photography happens during your lesson, so you get images of yourself actually riding waves, not just a selfie on the beach. Everything you need is provided: the soft board, the rash guard or wetsuit suited to the season, and the instruction. Children from age 4 are welcome, and infants can come along in a stroller or pram if a parent is taking the lesson.
