Seventy minutes behind the wheel, then three hours unwinding on sand and in water

This five-hour activity in Cozumel puts you in the driver's seat of a Polaris RZR for a 70-minute off-road run through jungle trails, muddy terrain and sandy paths to Jade Cavern—a freshwater sinkhole where you can swim, photograph limestone walls or attempt a cliff jump. After the ride, you spend three hours at Chula's Beach Club with snorkel gear, kayaks, paddle boards, a pool and lounge chairs included; food and drinks are à la carte. Pickup is available from any cruise port; the guide speaks English and Spanish; children from age five can ride along, though drivers must be 18 with a valid license.

The Experience

Can you actually drive the vehicle yourself, or do you ride as a passenger? You drive. The Polaris RZR seats four, so you'll share the vehicle with other guests, but you're the one navigating the winding jungle trails, splashing through muddy puddles and tackling the natural obstacles that make up Cozumel's off-road terrain. The 70 minutes of driving gets you from El Cedral through dense tropical scenery to Jade Cavern, a hidden freshwater sinkhole framed by dramatic limestone walls. Once there, the vehicle stops and the activity shifts: you can swim in the clear water, take photos of the cavern's geology, or jump from the cliff if you want the adrenaline rush.

After the off-road portion wraps up—about two hours total including transfers—you head to Chula's Beach Club for three hours of a completely different pace. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are available (subject to availability), and the water access is real: snorkel gear with mask, fins and life vest is provided; kayaks and paddle boards are there to use; inflatable water toys float in the shallow reef. The pool is open for cooling off between activities. When you get hungry, the kitchen makes à la carte Mexican dishes to order, and the bar sells drinks by the glass. This is the part where you stop moving and let the island do its thing.

Pickup happens at any Cozumel cruise port, which matters if you're docked and need to get moving fast. Bottled water is included during the off-road portion. The guide is live and speaks both English and Spanish. Children from age five can participate—they ride in the RZR with an adult—but only people 18 and older with a valid driver's license can take the wheel. Weight limits apply: 300 pounds per person, 900 pounds combined per vehicle. The activity is not available for people with back or neck problems, recent surgery (within six months), pregnancy, or those over 75.

Is this one for you?You drive the vehicle yourself and share it with three other guests, which means you're steering through the jungle but not alone—good for people who want the thrill of off-road driving without the solo pressure, and for groups that want to split the cost. The three-hour beach club portion is unstructured, so you choose between snorkeling, paddling, lounging or jumping in the pool, which suits anyone who wants to move at their own pace after the adrenaline wears off.
