The experience

The boat departs and heads straight for El Arco, the iconic rock formation at the tip of the Baja Peninsula where two oceans meet. The glass bottom lets you watch fish and marine life pass underneath while the guide explains what you're seeing from above. At the arch itself, life jackets come off so you can move around and photograph the formation from every angle.

From there the tour circles Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach) and its counterpart, Playa del Divorcio, where the Pacific swells hit harder and sometimes cross into the calmer Sea of Cortez waters. You'll pass La Empacadora, El Balconcito and Playa Pelicano, spotting sea lion colonies resting on the rocks and named rock formations (the Finger of Neptune, the Pelican Stone, Scooby Doo Rock) that break up the coastline. The guide speaks English or Spanish and points out what lives in the area.

At the end of the tour, weather permitting, you can step off at one of three beaches: Lover's Beach, Balconcito or Pelican Beach.
