Dolphin Watching at Sunrise in Mauritius: Small Group Snorkeling
Hunt dolphins at first light before the boats arrive
A 3-hour sunrise dolphin-watching and snorkeling activity in Mauritius with a small group of up to 6 guests, led by an experienced English-speaking crew. The boat moves to avoid crowded areas and pursues dolphins in their natural habitat rather than captive settings. Breakfast, snorkeling gear, water and hot drinks are included; dolphin sightings depend on weather and sea conditions, which vary daily.
The Experience
You start before dawn to reach the water while other boats are still ashore. The crew knows the local waters and adjusts the route based on tide and conditions, sometimes traveling further to find dolphins away from the crowds. If more than 10 boats converge on a spot, you move on instead of staying put. The 3-hour window gives you time to search, snorkel if dolphins appear and conditions allow, then visit Crystal Rock before heading back.
The boat carries safety features, a toilet, and a crew that brings light breakfast, bottled water, coffee and tea. Snorkeling equipment is provided. The crew also captures GoPro footage of the experience, though water clarity affects the video quality—there's no guarantee of usable footage on every trip. What you're paying for is the search itself and access to the spots the crew has learned, not a promise that dolphins will show. Weather, sea state and dolphin behavior all shift day to day.
Small group size—capped at 6 guests—means you're not competing for space or the crew's attention. The boat doesn't cut corners on fuel or effort to reach better spots; that's how the crew keeps the experience respectful and the dolphins undisturbed in their natural setting.

What time does the dolphin-watching boat leave Mauritius?
The boat departs at sunrise to locate dolphins early when fewer vessels are on the water. The exact departure time shifts with the season and sunrise hour, so confirm the specific time when you book.
Can I snorkel during the dolphin-watching trip?
Snorkeling is included in the 3-hour excursion if dolphins appear and sea conditions permit. The crew also stops at Crystal Rock for snorkeling regardless of dolphin sightings, so you get water time even if dolphins don't show.
What happens if we don't see dolphins?
Dolphin sightings depend on weather, sea conditions and dolphin behavior, which vary daily—they're not guaranteed. The crew commits to searching and moving to uncrowded spots, but some mornings dolphins simply don't appear. You still get the boat ride, snorkeling at Crystal Rock, breakfast and the crew's local knowledge.
Is the snorkeling equipment included?
Yes, snorkeling gear is provided. Breakfast, bottled water, coffee and tea are also included in the price.
How many people go on each boat?
Groups are limited to 6 guests maximum, keeping the experience personalized and the boat maneuverable enough to reach the best spots.
Do I need to arrange my own transport to the boat?
Transport to the meeting point is not included, so you'll need to arrange your own way there or book a separate transfer.
