The experience

The boat leaves Trou d'Eau Douce and heads first to Grand River South East Waterfall, where you'll spot monkeys at the water's edge and have a chance to feed them. From there, the speedboat takes you to Île aux Cerfs (Deer Island), a 0.87 km² island with its own golf course. You get 20 minutes to walk around, take pictures and browse small shops before returning to the boat. Later in the day, you'll come back to Île aux Cerfs for a 40-minute BBQ lunch on the island itself.

The tour includes roughly 20–30 minutes of snorkeling in Blue Bay Marine Park, where you'll see fish species and the occasional sea turtle. Snorkeling gear is provided, though you can bring your own. You'll pass Île aux Phares (Lighthouse Island), a historical landmark built in 1864 that you can visit and explore, including the ruins. Near Île aux Aigrettes, a natural reserve, you'll have time to swim in the clear turquoise water and enjoy an aperitif. The island itself is off-limits as it requires special access. Île de la Passe, another colonial-era site in Grand Port Bay, is viewed from a distance due to rocky coral. The final stop is Flamant Island, a white-sand sandbank in the lagoon near Mahebourg. The boat's approach depends on the tide.

The speedboat carries small groups and is suitable for all fitness levels. Infants can sit on an adult's lap, and the boat is wheelchair accessible. Hotel pickup is not included but can be arranged on request. Your guide speaks English or French and leads you through each stop. Soda, bottled water, alcoholic beverages, snacks and all entrance fees are included in the price.
