The boat leaves Kubang Badak Mangrove Jetty at 2:50pm, and the first hour moves slowly through the coastal river where the mangrove forest narrows the water on both sides. Your guide points out sea eagles perched in the canopy, kingfishers diving for fish, mudskippers skittering across the mud, and monitor lizards basking on the banks. The forest itself is ancient.
