The Experience

The cable car up Gunung Machinchang takes 15 minutes, and somewhere around the halfway point you stop noticing the forest below and start noticing how small the island looks. Pulau Dangli is the snorkeling stop, a small uninhabited island north of Langkawi that stays quiet because it's not easy to reach. The boat ride out takes time, but that's the point—fewer people, more fish. The water is shallow enough to see the bottom, and the fish are actually there, moving in small schools through the coral. You get snorkeling equipment included, and if you want to do fish feeding, the crew will hand you a container of pellets and let you watch them swarm.
