Roll your own nigiri with a sushi chef teaching in English

A 90-minute sushi making class near Tokyo Tower in Higashiazabu where a chef teaches you to make nigiri sushi in English, then you eat the dishes you've prepared. The experience includes tuna, salmon and other popular sushi ingredients; you can also wear a Japanese costume. Children under 3 join free by sharing a dish with an adult when arranged in advance.

The Experience

The class runs 90 minutes and starts with a sushi chef showing you how to shape nigiri sushi using tuna, salmon and other popular ingredients. You'll work in a Japanese-style space near Tokyo Tower, learning the techniques hands-on before making your own pieces. The chef teaches in English and works at your pace -- even beginners walk through the steps without struggle.

Once you've made your sushi, you eat it. That's the point: you learn the craft, then taste what your hands built. If you want, you can wear a Japanese costume during the class, which shifts the whole feeling of the hour. The venue sits in Higashiazabu, a short distance from Tokyo Tower, and public transportation reaches it easily.

Dietary needs are handled if you message ahead: vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options exist, though the operator asks for notice before your visit so they can prepare. Food allergies need advance notice too. The class may seat you with other customers depending on how busy the day is, and drinks are available for an extra charge.
