The experience

You board the Shinkansen at Kyoto Station and head south toward Nagoya, then switch to a local train that winds through smaller towns before pulling into Inuyama. The castle sits on a hill overlooking the Kiso River, and from the moment you step off the platform, the wooden structure, built in 1537, is visible against the sky.
