The Experience
Your guide meets you at your Kyoto hotel and the day moves through the city's cultural core on foot and by public transit. After lunch, you walk into Gion, the historic geisha district where cherry-blossom-lined streets open onto tea houses and cafes; the itinerary notes you may encounter a Maiko (an apprenticing geisha) if timing aligns. From there the route extends to Yasaka Shrine, which draws over a million worshipers during New Year and anchors the Gion Festival, one of Japan's three largest annual celebrations.
Kennin-ji Temple, Kyoto's oldest Zen temple, sits next on the route — the grounds hold multiple towers, gardens and cultural assets including the Wind Fuji Thunder Graphics screen. The temple was founded by Eisai, the master who established the Rinzai sect. Nishiki Market follows: a shopping district where locals buy seasonal fish, fruits and traditional Kyoto crafts, and where you can eat while walking the stalls. The day closes at Fushimi Inari Shrine, where thousands of red torii gates create a maze-like path through the hillside; the shrine's illusional effect and peaceful setting draw photographers and visitors year-round.
The seven-hour span includes your hotel pickup and drop-off within Kyoto City, all public transit fares, and an English-speaking guide who can adjust stops if you want to linger or swap a site. Lunch and drinks are on your own, and photos of the group are provided at the end.

What makes Fushimi Inari Shrine different from other shrines in Kyoto?
Fushimi Inari is composed of thousands of shrines connected by red torii gates that create a maze-like, illusional effect as you walk the hillside path. It's one of Japan's most photographed locations and known for its peaceful, otherworldly atmosphere.
Is lunch included, and where do you eat?
Lunch is included in the tour price, though the specific restaurant or food stop depends on the day's flow and your guide's recommendation. Drinks and any additional meals are on your own.
