The experience
The day starts with pickup from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, then a short guided walk through the forest to the river's edge near the historic Irie Bridge. After a safety briefing, you hop onto your tube and let the current carry you downstream. The Rio Bueno mixes calm sections with small rapids (enough adrenaline to keep it interesting without being overwhelming), and you'll drift under bamboo canopy and past an old stone bridge as the jungle closes in around you.
Along the way you can take a break in the cool water, try the rope swing if you want extra excitement, or simply float and watch for local wildlife moving through the trees. The journey ends at Bengal Bay, where the river mouth opens onto the Caribbean Sea and you get time to relax on the beach or take a final dip before heading back.
The whole experience runs about 3 hours from start to finish. You'll wear a life jacket and helmet throughout, and the guide handles the route. All you do is ride the tube and enjoy the landscape. Bottled water is provided, and the air-conditioned vehicle waits to return you to your hotel afterward.
