The experience
The tour starts at Fort Montego, the original English fort from 1600–1800 at the island's most northwestern point, where you'll learn the history and take pictures from a spot the guide knows. From there it's a 45-minute drive to Negril Beach itself: seven miles of white sand and turquoise water. You pick which section appeals to you, and the guide will park at a restaurant beach so you can order lunch: lobster, vegan sandwiches, smoothies, burgers or fried chicken, your choice. The guide can arrange it or you can order on arrival.
After the beach, you'll spend roughly 90 minutes at the Negril Cliffs and West End caves on the island's western side. The guide will take you to XTabi, Rick's Cafe, or both depending on what you want to see. The cliffs themselves are made of caves and rock formations that drop straight into the water. Travel time between stops is built into the eight-hour total, so the pace accounts for the distances. The drive back to your hotel takes about an hour and a half from the cliffs.
The guide speaks French and English, so you can do the entire tour in French if that's your preference. You'll get bottled water throughout the day, and if the guide has fruit growing on trees, he brings it along so you can taste real Jamaican varieties. At the end of the day, you'll receive a video made from photos taken during your tour.
What’s included
- Bottled water throughout the day.
- a complimentary video made from photos taken during your tour.
- fresh Jamaican fruit when available from the guide's trees.
- lunch at a beach restaurant of your choice (you order and pay separately, or the guide can arrange it in advance).

Is this one for you? This tour works best for small groups or families with children (welcome from age one), since you'll move at a single pace and the guide adjusts stops based on what the group wants to see. If you speak French or want to practice it, the guide can run the entire day in French, which changes the experience into a language and culture immersion rather than a standard sightseeing tour.
