Bob Marley Museum and Devon House Kingston Private Tour
The reggae legend's house, a millionaire's mansion, and the stories they hold
A private day tour in Kingston combines two of Jamaica's landmark sites: the Bob Marley Museum, housed in the 19th-century home where the reggae icon lived from 1975 until 1981, and the Devon House mansion, built by Jamaica's first Black millionaire and now a national monument. You move between them by private air-conditioned vehicle, with time to explore the museum's galleries, the mansion's antique-filled rooms, and the grounds at your own pace.

The experience
The Bob Marley Museum sits on the site of the house Marley bought in 1975 and called home for six years. His wife Rita converted it into a museum in 1987, and the main building now holds his personal treasures alongside a photographic gallery, a record shop stocked with memorabilia, and an 80-seat theatre. The property gives a direct look at how the musician lived and the objects that mattered to him, without the filter of a guide's narrative. You move through at your own speed.
Devon House stands at what locals call Millionaire's Corner, the late-19th-century address where three of Jamaica's wealthiest built elaborate homes. George Stiebel, who made his fortune in South American gold mining, designed this one as a blend of Caribbean and Georgian architecture. The rooms hold an expertly curated collection of Jamaican, English and French antique pieces and reproductions. The National Geographic named Devon House the 4th best place in the world to enjoy ice cream, and the grounds include craft shops and an ice cream parlor where you can eat at your own expense. The Jamaica National Heritage Trust declared it a national monument in 1990.
