Make three pasta shapes, taste them with local wine, take the apron home

A private pasta-making class at a Cesarina's home in Trieste where you learn to shape three traditional regional pastas, then taste what you've made with a selection of red and white local wines. The class runs three hours in the morning or afternoon. Each participant gets their own workstation with all ingredients and tools. You'll receive the exact address once you book.

The experience

What makes this different from a cooking demo is that you're the one shaping the pasta. A Cesarina (one of Italy's network of 600+ home cooks trained to host in their own kitchens) will walk you through three authentic regional recipes: the exact shapes and techniques vary, but expect dishes like maltagliati, potato gnocchi or fusi. You get your own workstation with utensils and ingredients, so there's no watching from the side. You're working the dough the whole time.

After you finish, you taste everything you've made. The Cesarina pairs it with a selection of red and white wines from regional cellars, not generic bottles, but wines from the territory around Trieste. Water and coffee come with it. The class wraps with you taking home an official Cesarina apron and shopping bag, so you have something to remember the techniques by when you're back in your own kitchen.

The class happens at the Cesarina's home, not a commercial kitchen. You'll get the exact address once your booking is confirmed. Public transportation options are nearby if you need them. The Cesarina speaks English or Italian, so you can choose which language works for you.

Is this one for you?Book the morning slot if you want the class earlier in your day and time to explore Trieste afterward. The afternoon option works better if you're building the class around other plans. Either way, you're learning hands-on in a home kitchen, not watching a chef demonstrate, so come ready to work the dough yourself.
