The experience
You arrive at a home in Trieste and spend the next three hours learning to cook. Your Cesarina meets you like family and walks you through two pasta recipes and tiramisu, the region's most famous dishes, teaching the techniques and tricks that make them work. You handle the dough, shape the pasta, layer the tiramisu. This is hands-on work, not a demonstration. The kitchen is yours to move through, and the instruction is live, in English or Italian, tailored to the group in front of you.
Once you've finished cooking, you sit down to eat. The pasta you made and the tiramisu you assembled come to the table with local wines, water and coffee. This is not a tasting of someone else's work. It's the meal you built, tasted in the place where you made it. The whole experience (cooking, eating, the conversation that happens around the table) takes three hours.
Le Cesarine, the network behind this class, runs cooking experiences in over 120 Italian cities. Every host opens their own home and teaches from their own kitchen, so no two classes are quite the same. Public transportation is available near the home, and the Cesarina provides hand sanitizing supplies and maintains the space carefully.
