The experience
If you have a free afternoon in Genoa and want to do something with your hands instead of just walking, this class puts you in Tiziana's kitchen to learn the two dishes Genoa is known for. You'll knead the dough, wait for it to rise, shape the focaccia and pizza, and bake them yourself. The whole thing takes two hours, and you eat what you make while it's still warm: focaccia with its dimpled surface, Margherita with fresh cherry tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. A glass of prosecco comes with it, plus mineral water and coffee.
The classroom sits in La Crêuza, an old neighborhood in Genoa's centro storico, and you reach it by walking uphill for about 100 meters. Tiziana teaches in English and keeps the group small. She provides the apron, cutting board and all the ingredients. You bring an appetite and the willingness to get flour on yourself. If the uphill walk is a concern (whether you have mobility issues or just want to know what you're getting into), reach out to her before you book and she'll talk through options with you.
