The experience
Three hours starts in the olive grove itself, on the hills above Montevago on Sicily's western coast. You walk among the trees while the guide explains cultivation and quality controls, then watch a simulation of both old and modern harvesting techniques. The grove sits high enough to see across the valley and the ruins of the old town below.
Inside the 1968 farmhouse (filled with exhibits of old country tools and things) comes the professional olive oil tasting. You learn to recognize technical features on bottle labels, understand what makes high-quality extra virgin oil, and taste how to spot negative flavors alongside positive attributes. The tasting pairs oils with typical Sicilian food: cheese, olives, bread, sundried tomatoes, caponata, Sicilian sausage, vegetables and fruit, then moves into a full lunch of pasta busiata and more, all washed down with local wines. Coffee and Sicilian sweets close it out.
The guide speaks English throughout. Service animals are welcome on the property.

Is this one for you?The guide conducts the entire experience in English, so anyone comfortable following instruction in English can engage fully with the tasting and the technical details of oil quality. If you want hands-on learning about what you're tasting rather than a passive tour, the walk through the grove and the structured tasting class build that directly into the three hours.
