Shop the market, cook in a local kitchen, taste what you made

A small-group cooking class in Forlì where you tour the local market with a Cesarina host, then return to her home to make fresh pasta and tiramisu from scratch. The class runs about five hours and includes an Italian aperitivo, all ingredients, and a tasting of everything you've prepared paired with local wines and coffee. English and Italian guides available.

The Experience

Forlì's market is where the class begins. Your Cesarina host walks you through the stalls to show you how to pick seasonal ingredients: what makes one tomato better than another, which herbs are at their peak, how to read a fish counter or a cheese case. This is not a sightseeing loop. You're learning the logic behind what ends up in the cooking pot, and you're doing it alongside other guests who showed up for the same reason.

Back at her home, you warm up with Prosecco and nibbles, then move into the kitchen. You'll make one iconic pasta type typical of Forlì (the hands-on part where you mix, knead and shape the dough), and then tiramisu, the layered dessert that appears on nearly every Italian table. The host teaches as you work, not the other way around. After the class ends, you sit down to eat everything you've made, paired with local wines and coffee.

The experience runs five hours total. A live guide speaks English or Italian depending on the group. You get an official Cesarine apron to take home, and public transportation options are nearby if you need them.

Top questions

What languages is the guide in?

Live guide in English and Italian.

Can children come?

4 to 8 years; under 4, free.

What pasta will I learn to make in Forlì?

The pasta type changes by location: in Forlì, you learn to make one iconic pasta shape typical of the city. The exact type depends on the season and what your Cesarina host specializes in, but it is always a fresh, handmade pasta you'll shape yourself during the class.

Do I need cooking experience to join this class?

No. The class is designed for people who want to learn, not for people who already know how. Your Cesarina host teaches the techniques as you go, and you work alongside other guests at the same level.

What's included in the tasting after the class?

Everything you've prepared (the pasta and tiramisu) served with local wines, beverages and coffee. You eat what you cooked, not a separate menu.

Is this a private class or will there be other people there?

It's a small group experience, so you'll cook and eat alongside other guests who booked the same class. The group size stays small enough that your host can teach everyone hands-on.
