Make Sicilian pasta among centuries-old olive trees, then eat what you cooked facing the sea.

You work outdoors among giant olive trees, gather ingredients from the garden, and finish with lunch at the same table overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and Aeolian Islands. Patrizia, a trained guide, weaves in local history and traditions throughout.

The experience

Four hours in the Sicilian countryside, 500 meters above the sea, means you spend the morning making food instead of watching someone else make it. You arrive at the countryhouse and start with a welcome drink, local Sicilian wine, then move straight to the table under the olive trees. Patrizia and Giuliana walk you through a typical menu: fresh pasta alla Norma, the dish built from tomatoes and basil grown in the garden, eggplants fried in-house, and dry grated ricotta. Everything comes from what grows around you or what the kitchen keeps on hand. No ingredients shipped in, no shortcuts.

The setting is the point. You're not in a kitchen studio or a cooking school building. You're outside, surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, with the Mediterranean visible the whole time. Patrizia is a guide as well as a host, so between the chopping and the stirring, she talks about why Sicilians cook this way, what the island's history means to the food on your table, and the local traditions that shaped every dish. Giuliana, her daughter, trained as a chef and has traveled widely, so she brings other influences into the Sicilian base, but the core stays rooted in what this place grows and how it has always been done here.

When the cooking is done, you sit at the same table under the trees and eat lunch together, looking out at the sea and the Aeolian Islands. The wine continues, the food is what you made, and the view doesn't change. A guide in English, Spanish, Italian or French is included, and pickup is arranged for you.
