The experience

The Western Wall anchors the first part of the tour: one of Judaism's most sacred sites and the only remnant of the wall that surrounded the Temple Mount during the Second Temple period. You'll have the choice to explore the Western Wall Tunnels, which expose the archaeological layers of ancient Jerusalem beneath the surface, or stay at ground level. From there, the route moves to City of David National Park, where you start with a panoramic view before descending into the excavations: Dr. Mazar's Palace, the Royal Acropolis, and the underground water system that dates back to the time of Abraham, including the Canaanite fortress guarding the Gihon Spring. At the end of that section, you can choose to walk through the water tunnel itself or take the dry Gihon canal route instead.

The Christian Quarter closes the tour, showing you the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the diversity of churches and people within the quarter's walls. Before leaving, you'll walk through the Muslim Quarter's narrow streets and the Arab market, where you'll taste some of the special and authentic flavors of the Old City: sweets, spices and local specialties woven into the route itself. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and several other languages, so you pick the one that works for your group.
