The experience

What makes this tour different is the guide. Michael Skir has spent years leading private travelers, groups and delegations across Israel, and he builds each day around what you actually want to see, whether that's the religious and archaeological layers, the history and geography, or simply the story of how the city came to be. You're not following a fixed script. You're walking with someone who knows the Bible, the archaeology, the Judaism and Christianity woven into every corner, and can explain what you're standing in front of as you stand there.

The route moves through the Old City's Armenian, Christian and Jewish quarters on foot, starting with a panoramic view that orients you to the layout. From there you descend into the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, one of Christianity's most sacred sites, where the Way of the Cross ends at the place of burial and resurrection. Mount Zion comes next: King David's Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper, the place where the first followers of Jesus gathered. Then you walk the bazaar with its narrow lanes and unique atmosphere, pass through the quarters, and reach the Western Wall and the Temple Mount. Five to six hours on foot, moving at a pace that lets you absorb each stop.

The tour is private, so it's just you and your guide (or your group and your guide), which means the timing, the depth of explanation, and which sites you linger at are all yours to shape. Children from age one are welcome, and strollers work for the panoramic viewpoint and some of the route, though the Old City's narrow streets and stairs mean you'll be carrying an infant through parts of it. Public transport is nearby if you need it before or after.
