The Experience

You start from your hotel and drive to Mount Scopus for a panoramic view of the Old City before entering its quarters. The guide leads you through the Jewish Quarter and its Byzantine Cardo, past the Western Wall, then into the Christian Quarter where you walk the Via Dolorosa—the fourteen stations of the Cross—and reach the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Between these, you pass through the Kidron Valley and spend time in the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. The Muslim Quarter and its bazaar round out the morning in the Old City itself.

After the Old City, the tour descends to the Dead Sea, where you float in water so mineral-dense that your body stays on the surface without effort. Bring a bathing suit, towel and sun protection; the mineral content stings if it reaches your eyes. This is the lowest point on Earth and the most saline body of water outside the Red Sea, so the float itself is the main event—no swimming required, just the physics of it.

Your guide speaks English, Spanish, French or German depending on which option you book at checkout. The vehicle is air-conditioned, hotel pickup and drop-off are included, and all entrance fees to the sites are paid upfront, so you move through the day without stopping at ticket windows. Comfortable walking shoes are essential; the Old City's streets are stone and uneven, and you'll cover a reasonable distance on foot across the ten hours.

What’s included

  • Professional guide in English, Spanish, French or German.
  • entrance fees to all sites.
  • air-conditioned vehicle.
  • hotel pickup and drop-off.
  • float in the Dead Sea.

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you're visiting Jerusalem for the first time or have only a day to see the major holy sites—the guide's knowledge of the Old City's layout and history means you cover ten significant stops without getting lost in the maze of streets. The Dead Sea float at the end gives you a completely different experience in the same day, so you're not choosing between the two.

Top questions

What should I wear to visit the holy sites in Jerusalem's Old City?

Knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women at places of worship and selected museums; shorts are not permitted. Refusal of entry is possible if you don't meet the dress code, so plan long pants or skirts and shirts with sleeves.

How much time do I spend actually in the Dead Sea?

The itinerary includes a visit to float in the Dead Sea, though the exact duration isn't specified in the tour details. Bring a bathing suit, towel and sun protection, and plan to spend meaningful time in the water rather than a quick dip.

Is the tour suitable for young children?

The tour is not suitable for children under age 4. Children 4 and older are welcome, though the ten-hour day and moderate amount of walking in the Old City mean older children will manage the pace better.

What's included in the price, and what do I need to pay separately?

The tour includes a professional guide, all entrance fees to the sites, air-conditioned transport and hotel pickup and drop-off. Food, drinks and gratuities are not included, so bring water and plan for a meal break or bring snacks.

Will I navigate the Old City on my own, or does the guide stay with the group?

A professional guide leads the entire tour, handling the route through all ten sites in the Old City and explaining the significance of each quarter and landmark. You don't navigate alone or choose your own path.

What is the Dome of the Rock, and can I enter it?

The Dome of the Rock is a shrine on the Temple Mount, one of Islam's holiest sites. The itinerary includes a view of it and the Temple Mount from outside; entry restrictions apply and are not part of this tour.
