The tour moves through Bethlehem first, where the Church of the Nativity sits over the grotto where Jesus was born, a limestone cave beneath stone arches that Constantine's builders protected fourteen centuries ago. Your guide walks you through the church itself, then to the Milk Grotto nearby, where the Holy Family sheltered during the Massacre of the Innocents, and on to Beit Sahour and the Shepherd's Field Chapel, the place where angels announced the birth to shepherds watching their flocks. Between sites you pass through checkpoints — bring your passport, and expect the line to the grotto can run thirty to ninety minutes on regular days, longer on holidays and Sundays when entry sometimes closes.

The vehicle switches partway through, which matters because you're crossing from the West Bank into Israel proper, and the logistics are part of what the guide handles so you don't have to.
