The experience

The Jaffa Gate opens directly into the Christian and Armenian quarters, where the guide leads you past the Tower of David and down to the Cardo: the original Roman street lined with Byzantine-era shops that still stand today. You'll see the restored Hurva Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter, then climb to the Western Wall Observation Deck for a panoramic view of both the Western Wall and Temple Mount before descending to pray or touch the ancient stones at the wall itself.

Temple Mount holds the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque, two of Islam's most significant sites. Access is regulated and varies by day: on Fridays, Saturdays, and during Muslim and Jewish holidays, the guide takes you to a viewpoint overlooking the mount instead. From there, you continue to the Mount of Olives and its ancient cemetery, then walk part of the Via Dolorosa, the 14-station route Jesus is believed to have walked, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This 4th-century church marks the spot where Christians believe Christ was crucified, buried, and resurrected.

After the guided portion ends, you have free time to wander the Old City Bazaar (a maze of narrow alleys selling spices, textiles, jewelry, and local food), before the return drive to Tel Aviv. Round-trip transport from your hotel or meeting point is included, and the guide speaks English throughout the day.

Is this one for you?A shared guided tour with a fixed itinerary suits travelers who want the major sites explained in context and don't want to navigate the Old City alone. If you prefer to move at your own pace or explore without a guide, a self-guided day trip or a private tour with flexible timing would fit better.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 12 years); Infant (under 3).

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What exactly is the Cardo, and why is it worth seeing?

The Cardo is an ancient Roman street built during Emperor Hadrian's reign in the 2nd century CE, originally the main commercial hub of the city. Today you walk past the original Roman columns and see reconstructed Byzantine-era shops that line the street, giving a direct view into how Jerusalem's markets functioned over 1,800 years ago.

Can I go inside the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque?

Non-Muslim visitors can explore the outer courtyard of Temple Mount and see both buildings from outside. Interior access to the Dome of the Rock is restricted to Muslims only. On Fridays, Saturdays, and during Muslim and Jewish holidays, Temple Mount closes to all visitors, so the guide takes you to a viewpoint overlooking the site instead.

What is the Via Dolorosa, and do I walk the whole route?

The Via Dolorosa is the 14-station route believed to be the path Jesus walked to his crucifixion. The tour follows part of it, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where many of the stations are marked by chapels and shrines you can visit.

How much time do I have to explore on my own?

After the guided portion ends, you have free time to wander the Old City Bazaar, visit shops, sample local food, and grab lunch at a local eatery before returning to Tel Aviv. The total tour runs about 7.5 hours from pickup to drop-off.

What is included in the price, and what do I need to pay for separately?

Round-trip transport from Tel Aviv and the guided tour are included. Food and drinks are not included, so you'll want to budget for lunch and any refreshments during the free-time portion in the bazaar.
