The experience

The route is built around the major Christian and Jewish sites of the Old City, but the itinerary is a proposal, not a fixed schedule. Your guide adjusts the stops, the pace and the time spent at each site based on what interests you. The ten-hour window gives you room to linger at the Western Wall or walk the full fourteen stations of the Via Dolorosa without rushing, or to skip a site entirely if something else matters more. Pickup happens from your Tel Aviv hotel, and the air-conditioned vehicle waits while you're on foot inside the Old City.

The walk itself covers the Jewish Quarter and its Byzantine Cardo, the narrow market alleys where the Stations of the Cross run, and the major churches, St. Anne, the Church of All Nations, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Mount Zion sits outside the walls but close enough to reach on the same day. You'll see King David's Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper there. The guide is a professional who knows the sites and can answer questions, but the experience is yours to shape. Modest dress is required at the holy sites (covered knees and shoulders), and comfortable walking shoes matter because the Old City is steep, narrow and uneven underfoot.

The tour operates in English, Spanish, French or German. You pick the language when you book. Hotel drop-off happens at the end of the day. Food and drinks, entrance fees, and toll or parking charges are not included, so budget separately for meals and any sites that charge admission.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want to set the pace and choose which sites matter most to you. A private guide means you're not moving with a group schedule, so you can linger at the Western Wall or skip the Church of Peter Gallicantu if time runs short or your interests shift.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Spanish, French and German.

What's the difference between the Via Dolorosa and the other churches on this tour?

The Via Dolorosa is the route Jesus walked to his crucifixion, marked by fourteen stations along the streets of the Old City, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The other churches, St. Anne, the Church of All Nations, and the Church of Peter Gallicantu: are individual sites tied to specific biblical moments, each with their own interiors and histories.

Do I have to visit every stop on the itinerary, or can I skip some?

The itinerary is a proposal only. Your guide will customize the tour based on what you want to see and how much time you want to spend at each place. If you'd rather skip a site or spend extra time at one, you can decide that on the day.

How much walking is involved in a ten-hour tour?

Most of the ten hours is spent on foot inside and around the Old City, which has steep streets, stairs and uneven stone surfaces. The guide drives you between major zones (Mount Olives, the Old City, Mount Zion), but once you're in each area, you walk. Comfortable shoes and water are essential.

What's included in the price, and what do I need to pay separately?

The tour includes the air-conditioned vehicle, your private guide, and hotel pickup and drop-off. Entrance fees to the sites, food and drinks, and any tolls or parking are not included, so plan to pay separately for those.
