The experience
The route moves through three distinct regions of Bali in a single day. You start in the northern highlands near Bedugul, where Twin Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan sit at nearly 4,000 feet above sea level surrounded by coffee plantations and traditional rice paddies. The area sees few tourists compared to the better-known Lake Bratan a few miles east, and the lakes remain important to local fishing and farming communities. From there the tour heads to Handara Gate, a Balinese gateway at the Handara Golf and Resort that has become a popular photo stop, with green hills framing the traditional carved gate.
The middle section centers on two major temples. Ulun Danu Lake Beratan Temple sits on the western shore of Beratan Lake in Bedugul and ranks among Bali's most iconic sanctuaries, sharing the scenic qualities of the better-known seaside temples. After lunch at a restaurant near the temple, you drive to Jatiluwih Rice Terrace at the foot of Mount Batukaru, where the dramatic highland landscape and cool air make for strong photo opportunities away from the crowded south. Penatahan Hot Springs follows, a complex of thermal pools fed by water from Mount Batukaru, with a central main pool and smaller pools arranged along the riverbank.
The day ends at Tanah Lot Temple on the coast, an ancient Hindu shrine perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by crashing waves. The onshore site holds smaller shrines, restaurants, shops and a cultural park with regular dance performances. Your driver speaks English and handles all logistics: hotel pickup and drop-off from Seminyak or any of the other southern resort areas, all entry tickets, parking and petrol. The vehicle is private to your party only, and lunch is included if you select the all-inclusive option at checkout.
