The experience
You get picked up from your Bali accommodation each morning and dropped back each evening, traveling in a private air-conditioned minivan with a guide who speaks English. The three days split across the island: one day centers on Ubud and its surroundings, one heads east to Lempuyang Temple and the old villages of Karangasem, and one covers the western UNESCO heritage sites. You're not locked into back-to-back days. The operator lets you space them out across your stay, so you can mix them with beach time or rest days.
Day one takes you through Ubud's cultural core: Batuan Temple with its carved sandstone motifs, Tegenungan Waterfall where you can swim in fresh water surrounded by jungle, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary home to over 1,260 long-tailed macaques, Tegalalang Rice Terraces with their valley views, and Tirta Empul Temple where Balinese Hindus perform ritual purification in the holy spring water. Day two heads into the mountains of East Bali, climbing the steep staircase of over 1,700 steps to Lempuyang Temple at 1,175 metres, passing smaller temples and macaque-filled forests along the way, then descending to Tirta Gangga Water Garden with its tiered fountains and views over rice paddies, and Tenganan Village, one of Bali's oldest traditional settlements that has kept its customs intact across generations. Day three covers the western side: Taman Ayun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site with its compound gardens and water features; Ulun Danu Bratan Temple on the edge of Lake Bratan at 1,200 metres; Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, which sit higher and quieter than Tegalalang; and Tanah Lot Temple, the offshore rock shrine built in the 16th century and shaped by ocean tides.
This is an all-inclusive tour, meaning you don't pay extra for entry fees, transport or taxes. Bottled water comes with you each day. The guide is yours alone: no other groups join. Wear smart casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Jeans aren't allowed. If you have dietary needs, tell the operator at booking and they'll arrange it. The tour suits all fitness levels, though Lempuyang's 1,700 steps and the mountain altitude mean you should be comfortable with climbing and elevation.
