The experience
The tour starts from your hotel and runs 8 to 10 hours depending on which route you choose. You're not locked into a fixed schedule: the guide works with you to swap stops within your chosen area, skip sites that don't appeal, or linger longer at the ones that do. Private transportation means no other travelers on the van, no set departure times beyond your pickup, and no waiting for a group to gather.
Ubud tours center on the rice terraces at Tegalalang, the purification ritual at Tirta Empul Temple, and a swing hung over the jungle canopy. You'll also visit a working coffee plantation and see artisans making silver, gold and traditional batik by hand at their workshops. The Uluwatu route trades the rice fields for the coast: Padang-Padang Beach (where Julia Roberts filmed), the clifftop Uluwatu Temple, and an evening Kecak and fire dance performance followed by fresh seafood dinner at Jimbaran Beach. The Gates of Heaven itinerary heads east to Lempuyang Temple's famous sky gate (expect a wait of more than an hour in line) plus the Bat Cave Temple at Goa Lawah and the water palace at Tirta Ganga. North Bali tours visit the Handara Gates, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple on Lake Beratan, and Wanagiri Hill for views across the water.
Your guide speaks English and handles all driving. The vehicle is air-conditioned and comes with mineral water. Lunch isn't included, so you'll stop at a restaurant of your choice partway through the day. You can customize any route by swapping nearby stops or adjusting the order. Just discuss it with the guide when you're picked up.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (under 3).
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the difference between the four Bali tour routes?
Ubud highlights focus on rice terraces, temples and artisan workshops in central Bali; Uluwatu combines a clifftop temple, beach and evening Kecak dance with seafood dinner; the Gates of Heaven route heads east to Lempuyang Temple's famous sky gate, a bat cave and a water palace; North Bali tours visit mountain temples and the Handara Gates. Each route covers different parts of the island, so pick the one with the sites you want to see.
Can I change the stops once the tour starts?
Yes. The itinerary is customizable within your chosen route area, so you can swap stops, skip attractions that don't interest you, or spend more time at the ones you prefer. Discuss any changes with your guide when you're picked up from the hotel.
What happens at Tirta Empul Temple on the Ubud tour?
Tirta Empul is a Hindu temple built around a sacred spring, and visitors take part in a purification ritual by bathing in the temple's holy water pools. It's one of Bali's most visited spiritual sites and a key stop on the Ubud route.
Does the Uluwatu tour include the Kecak dance performance?
Yes. The Uluwatu route includes the Kecak and fire dance at Uluwatu Temple, performed at sunset, followed by fresh seafood dinner at Jimbaran Beach. The performance is a traditional Balinese spectacle that takes place in the early evening.
How long is the wait at the Gates of Heaven?
Lempuyang Temple's sky gate, known as the Gates of Heaven, typically has a wait of more than an hour in line, especially during peak times. The tour includes time for this, but it's worth knowing before you book that route.
What's included in the price and what do I pay for separately?
The tour includes private transportation, an air-conditioned vehicle, mineral water and your English-speaking guide. Lunch, entrance fees to temples and attractions, the Kecak dance performance, and the seafood dinner at Jimbaran (on the Uluwatu route) are not included in the base price.
