The Experience

Your driver picks you up at your hotel and heads first to Celuk Village, a one-hour drive where gold and silver craftspeople work in open studios. You'll watch artisans shape metal by hand and see the finished pieces—rings, bracelets, ornaments—before moving on to Mas Village to watch woodcarvers at work on larger pieces. The craft villages take about an hour total; most visitors buy something, though nothing is required.

From there it's a thirty-minute drive to Bali Bird Park, where you spend roughly two and a half hours. The park holds about a thousand birds from 250 species across two hectares, plus two thousand tropical plants. Your admission includes four separate shows: a free-flight rainforest bird display, a bird-of-prey demonstration, a pelican feeding, and a lory feeding. There's also a 4D cinema and a Komodo experience exhibit. The pace is yours—you move between zones at your own speed and catch the shows on a posted schedule.

After the bird park, a thirty-minute drive takes you to Ubud Art Market, where the west side holds paintings, puppets, dolls, textiles and carved pieces, while the east side serves local shoppers buying produce and daily goods. You'll have about thirty minutes to walk, look and buy. Next is Kintamani, a farming village an hour away where the landscape shifts to agricultural terraces growing tomatoes, oranges, shallots and cauliflower. You'll spend an hour there seeing how the region works. The final stop is Tegalalang Rice Terrace, a thirty-minute drive away, where stepped rice paddies follow the traditional subak irrigation system used for over a hundred years. After thirty minutes at the terrace, your driver takes you back to your hotel—roughly an hour's drive depending on traffic.

Is this one for you?Your English-speaking driver narrates the route and explains what you're seeing at each stop, so you don't need to read a guidebook or figure out the sequence yourself—the commentary flows as you move. This works well if you're visiting Bali for the first time and want the shape of the island without building the itinerary yourself, or if you have a free day and want to see multiple regions in one push without renting a car or navigating between taxis.

Top questions

What birds will I actually see at Bali Bird Park?

Bali Bird Park holds about a thousand birds from 250 different species, including birds native to Indonesia, Africa and South America, plus two thousand tropical plant species across the two-hectare grounds. The park's four shows—the rainforest free-flight display, bird-of-prey show, pelican feeding and lory feeding—let you watch the birds in action rather than just in enclosures.

How much time do I spend driving versus at each stop?

The tour runs about ten hours total. Celuk and Mas villages take an hour combined; Bali Bird Park takes two and a half hours; Ubud Art Market takes thirty minutes; Kintamani takes an hour; Tegalalang Rice Terrace takes thirty minutes. The remaining time is driving between stops, ranging from thirty minutes to an hour per leg depending on traffic and your hotel location.

Can I bring young children on this tour?

Children from age two are welcome. Infants must sit on an adult's lap. The tour suits all fitness levels, so there's no age or physical requirement beyond that—the pace at each stop is yours to set.

What's included in the price, and what costs extra?

The tour includes petrol, all admission tickets to every stop, parking fees, use of the private car, and an English-speaking driver. Personal expenses—meals, drinks, souvenirs and tips—are not included, though you'll have time to buy at the markets and villages if you choose.

Does the driver stay with me the whole time, or do I explore alone?

Your English-speaking driver takes you to each stop and waits with the car. At each location—the craft villages, bird park, market, Kintamani and rice terrace—you're free to explore at your own pace. The driver handles all driving and navigation between stops.

What is Tegalalang Rice Terrace actually like to walk through?

Tegalalang Rice Terrace is a stepped landscape of green rice paddies built using the subak system, a traditional Balinese irrigation method that's been in use for over a hundred years. The terraces are close to Ubud and offer a view of rural Bali's agricultural side—the landscape is open and walkable, though the terrain is uneven with steps and slopes between the paddies.
