The route starts at Jantar Mantar, the 18th-century observatory built by Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II and completed in 1734. It holds the world's largest stone sundial and sits on the UNESCO World Heritage list: the guide walks you through how the astronomical instruments work and why Jai Singh built them. From there you move to Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, a five-story red and pink sandstone structure built in 1799 that sits on the edge of City Palace and once housed the royal women's chambers.
