The experience

The day starts at Hard Rock Café in the city center and moves into Lalbagh, Bangalore's oldest botanical garden, where you walk among over 1,000 plant species and climb a rock formation 3.4 billion years old. The glasshouse at its heart, modeled on London's Crystal Palace, sits at the heart of the garden's landscaped grounds. From there you head to Mavalli Tiffin Rooms, a Bangalore landmark since 1924, for a South Indian breakfast and filter coffee.

The route then takes you through the Bull Temple, home to the world's largest monolithic Nandi statue, and into Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, an Indo-Islamic structure built by one of India's first rulers to resist colonial rule. A quick stop at Vidhana Soudha and Attara Kacheri shows the state legislature and High Court, their Indian and Greco-Roman architecture built in 1884. You walk through KR Market, Asia's largest flower hub, where vendors trade vibrant blossoms and fresh produce in a sensory rush of color and scent.

Cubbon Park, a 300-acre garden dividing the city between markets and the Cantonment, offers a quieter stretch where you stroll past the European-styled library and see where Bangalore's residents gather for runs and yoga.
