The experience

How do you fit three palaces, a temple at 1000 feet, and a historic market into a single day from Bengaluru? This tour starts with pickup from your hotel and heads south to Srirangapatna, the former capital under Tipu Sultan. You'll walk through Dariya Daulat Bagh and the Gumbaz, both built with the intricate frescoes and murals the itinerary mentions: the palace walls carry the visual record of that era. From there the route continues to Mysore, where you stop at Chamundeshwari Temple perched on Chamundi Hills. The climb itself is part of the geography, and the temple sits at that elevation overlooking the city below.

By early afternoon you reach Mysore Palace, the Indo-Saracenic landmark that anchors the city's skyline. Your English-speaking guide walks you through the palace (formerly the residence of the Wadiyars, the royal family), and explains the artifacts and architectural details as you move through the rooms. If you booked the all-inclusive option, lunch at a 4-star multicuisine hotel happens between the palace and your next stop. If you chose car-and-guide only, you arrange that separately. Either way, the afternoon includes Jaganmohan Palace, now an art gallery housing paintings by Raja Ravi Varma and other works from the royal collection. A final stop at Devaraja Market, built in the 18th century under Tipu Sultan, gives you time to photograph the vendors and stalls: traditional handicrafts, local produce, the layered commerce of a working market that has operated for centuries.

The tour runs 12 to 14 hours door-to-door. You travel in a private, air-conditioned car (a sedan for one or two people, a 5-seater for groups up to five) with a driver and, on the all-inclusive option, your guide for the palace stops. Bottled water comes in the car. Parking and local taxes are covered. If your hotel sits in Whitefield or the Sarjapur/Marathahalli area, an additional surcharge applies. Nandi Hills pickups are not included in this tour.

Is this one for you?Choose the all-inclusive option if you want entrance fees and lunch settled before you leave Bengaluru. Pick car-and-guide only if you'd rather decide where to eat and which monuments to enter once you're on the ground. Both options cover the same route and guide time. The difference is what's paid upfront versus what you arrange as you go.

Top questions

What's inside Mysore Palace that makes it worth the stop?

Mysore Palace is the former residence of the Wadiyar royal family and remains their official residence today. The Indo-Saracenic architecture, royal artifacts, and the scale of the building itself, it anchors Mysore's skyline, are what draw visitors. Your guide walks you through the rooms and explains the history and details of what you're seeing.

Do I have to eat lunch at the hotel, or can I skip it?

The all-inclusive tour option includes buffet lunch at a 4-star hotel in Mysore. The car-and-guide option does not include a meal, so you choose where and what to eat. Both options cover the same monuments and guide time: only the lunch and entrance fees differ between them.

What is Srirangapatna and why does the tour start there?

Srirangapatna is the former capital city under Tipu Sultan, a major figure in Karnataka's history. The tour visits Dariya Daulat Bagh and the Gumbaz, both historic structures with frescoes and murals that show the architectural style of that period. It's the cultural foundation before moving on to Mysore's later palaces.

Is Chamundeshwari Temple included, or is that an extra stop?

Chamundeshwari Temple on Chamundi Hills is part of the standard itinerary. The temple sits at 1000 feet and is devoted to the goddess Chamundeshwari. You'll see statues of the Nandi Bull and Mahishashura the Demon on the grounds. If you're on the all-inclusive option, entry is covered. If you're on car-and-guide only, you pay separately.

Can I book this if my hotel isn't in central Bengaluru?

Pickup from hotels in Whitefield and the Sarjapur/Marathahalli area carries an additional surcharge beyond the tour price. Pickup from Nandi Hills is not included. If your hotel isn't listed in the booking system, you can manually enter the name at checkout. The operator will confirm whether pickup is available and what any extra charge would be.
