A working vineyard, centuries-old vines, and six wines you won't find elsewhere

A vineyard tour and wine tasting at Estate L'Heritage Korres YASTRA on Naxos combines a guided walk through the estate's organic and biodynamic vineyards with a tasting of six award-winning wines, including two experimental selections still aging, paired with handmade traditional delicacies. The experience takes roughly two hours and ends in the old farmhouse courtyards overlooking the gorge.

The experience

The walk starts among stone terraces and steep slopes where indigenous grape varieties grow in rocky soil, some vines centuries old. Your guide explains the traditional, organic and biodynamic methods the estate's fifth generation has preserved, and you move through the landscape seeing how the cultivation respects the environment rather than fighting it. The views open over the gorge as you climb, and the path itself (stone and terraced) is part of what makes this a real working vineyard, not a manicured tour route.

The tasting happens in the old farmhouse courtyards and includes four estate wines (a white and rosé from two consecutive vintages, so you taste how the same wine changes year to year), two experimental wines still aging in the cellar (a late-harvest sweet red and a sun-dried Aidani sweet white), and a local grape distillate called Raki. Each wine pairs with handmade traditional delicacies (cheeses, cold cuts, jams, honey and pies) all made primarily from the estate's own produce or sourced locally. The pairing is not an afterthought. The food is built around what you're tasting.

You choose your session time at checkout: late morning at 10:45am, early afternoon at 1:15pm, afternoon at 3:45pm, or early evening at 6:00pm. The guide speaks English and Greek. Minimum age is 15. The walk involves uneven terrain and some elevation, so it's not suitable for travelers with poor cardiovascular health, but it's fine for all fitness levels otherwise.

Is this one for you?The afternoon and early evening sessions work best if you want to end your day with wine and food. The late morning and early afternoon slots suit travelers building the tasting into a wider morning or lunch plan. The walk involves uneven terrain and elevation, so it suits anyone comfortable with a moderate uphill climb, but skip it if cardiovascular strain is a concern.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Greek.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What makes the wines at Estate L'Heritage Korres YASTRA different from other tastings on Naxos?

The estate pours six wines including two experimental selections (a late-harvest sweet red and a sun-dried Aidani white) that are still aging and unreleased to the public. The other four are award-winning estate wines, and you taste two of them across consecutive vintages to see how the same wine changes year to year. Most tastings pour standard releases. This one gives you access to wines you cannot buy elsewhere.

How steep is the vineyard walk, and what's the terrain like?

The walk follows stone paths and terraces along slopes where vines climb steeply, with views over the gorge. The terrain is uneven and involves some elevation gain, so it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. It suits all fitness levels otherwise, and the whole experience takes roughly two hours including the tasting.

What food comes with the wine tasting?

Handmade traditional delicacies paired with each wine: cheeses, cold cuts, jams, honey and pies made primarily from the estate's own produce or sourced locally. The food is designed to complement the wines you're tasting, not served as a separate course.

Can I choose what time of day to do this tour?

Yes. You pick your session at checkout: late morning at 10:45am, early afternoon at 1:15pm, afternoon at 3:45pm, or early evening at 6:00pm. Each session follows the same route and tasting. The time you choose depends on what fits the rest of your day.

What's the difference between the estate's regular wines and the experimental ones?

The four regular estate wines are award-winning releases you can buy. The two experimental wines (the late-harvest sweet red and the sun-dried Aidani white) are still aging in the cellar and not yet released for sale. Tasting them here is a chance to try wines that won't be available to the public for some time.
